I think the other reason people are so interested in celebrity weddings is that the majority of them fail and we all love a good train wreck when it isn't happening to us. The reason the divorce rate is so high in Hollywood compared to everywhere else in the country is because when a normal person decides to get married they really think it through - it is a life-changing decision which is not easily reversed should they choose poorly. But when two celebrities get married, each comes in with lots of money in the bank and a pre-nup at the ready, so they have no qualms about marrying someone they've known for 8 weeks because undoing it won't change much about their day-to-day lives. That's why we all take bets on how long celebrity marriages are going to last and no one takes the over. For example, was anyone shocked when it was announced late in the week that Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes were separating? Of course it didn't. The only shocking part was that the marriage lasted as long as it did. I'm sure it won't be long before they both get back on the dating horse. However, Cruise is getting a little long in the tooth and I'm afraid he might have some trouble getting his mojo back, as it where. What I think this calls for is a reminder for him of how things used to be. However, I don't think he needs to dance around his house in his skivvies as socks should be more than enough.

Not Shocking
Admittedly, I don't understand a lot of the fascination with celebrities. I simply can not comprehend the appeal of shows like TMZ which is nothing but people walking in and out of places. How can this pass for entertainment? Most of the time I feel like as long as someone makes a good movie, I don't really care where they eat lunch. The one thing I do get is why people are fascinated by celebrity weddings, especially when two famous people marry each other. Weddings are one of those times in which you get a sense of how classy a person really is and that applies just as much for people who have a lot of money as it does to the ones who are dirt poor. So, when people have as much money as most celebrities, they can really spend to the extremes to make a point. If they want a cake in the shape of a bottle of Jack Daniels, that probably tells you all you really need to know about that person. It honestly is the closest you are ever going to get to seeing what they are really like when they don't have a publicist cleaning up all their press releases or staging photo shoots they will then try desperately to convince us were not staged.
